The Eurovision Song Contest 2020, which was to be held May 12, 14 and 16 in Rotterdam Ahoy, will not take place. Based on the measures taken by the Dutch and foreign governments, the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) has decided that the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 cannot take place The EBU, NPO/NOS/AVROTROS and the Municipality of Rotterdam remain in talks about organizing the 65th Eurovision Song Contest in 2021.

The Royal Dutch Mint's Eurovision Song Contest issues remain orderable; production and delivery continue as planned!

The unique design
The ingenious design of the Eurovision Song Contest medal brings together all the editions. For this, music producer Eric van Tijn assembled all the winning tracks from the 64 previous editions into one unintelligible mix.

Designer Juan Sanchez-Castano developed a unique installation that he created in the middle of Rotterdam Ahoy, where the 65e edition of the Eurovision Song Contest would take place in 2020, has put up. Among other things, the installation includes a speaker on which is a container. This was filled with water from Rotterdam's Meuse River, handed over by Rotterdam's "song contest alderman" Said Kasmi. The mix was then played over the speaker. The water on the speaker causes vibrations to reveal the sound waves of the mix being played.

Designer Sanchez-Castano documented the vibrations in the water and converted them to a digital 3D model and then to a physical product with a special relief. The 65 Years of the Eurovision Song Contest Medal is therefore a tangible keepsake in which the history of the Eurovision Song Contest is uniquely recorded.
The token has a clear relief, just as the music played gives a relief on the water. The reverse side of the medal shows the same vibrations with the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 logo in the center.
