Netherlands half guilder 1907 Wilhelmina
Wilhelmina's silver half guilder
Wilhelmina's silver half guilder was minted from 1898 through 1930. The silver half was a coin that was not very common in payment transactions, and therefore was minted less. Consequently, the half guilder has only three portraits of Wilhelmina:
– Wilhelmina coronation type;
– Wilhelmina with the ermine cloak;
– Wilhelmina with her hair pulled up.
Two contents of silver were used in making the silver half guilders, for example, 945/1000 silver was used from 1898 through 1919. Due to rising silver prices, it was decided by the National Mint that the half guilders would contain only 720/1000 silver starting in 1921. The silver half guilder weighs 5 grams, and has a diameter of 22 millimeters. The silver half guilder was minted at the Rijksmunt in Utrecht from 1898 to 1930.
