The golden tenner is the second highest payment coin issued during the reign of William the third. The golden tenner of William 3 is made of 900/1000 gold, weighs 6.72 grams and has a diameter of 22.5 millimeters. The gold tenner has a serrated edge, which places the phrase "god be with us" on the obverse of the coin. Issued between 1876 and 1889, the Golden Ten of William 3 was part of the series of coins in circulation during King William 3's reign. In addition to the Golden Ten of William 3, there are the following coins:
– Half-cent William 3;
– Cent William 3;
– Two and a half cents William 3;
– Stuiver William 3;
– Double William 3;
– Quarter William 3;
– Half guilder Willem 3;
– Golden William 3;
– Knaak or two and a half guilders William 3;
– Five guilders William 3;
- 20 guilders (double-negotiated token) William 3.
The coins of King William 3 slowly disappeared from circulation in the early twentieth century and were gradually replaced by the coins of Queen Wilhelmina. Today they are still widely collected by collectors, and are therefore very popular. The gold tens are also popular with investors because they contain such a high gold content.
