Fifty guilder 1982 Sunflower
The fifty guilder bill with the sunflower is and iconic Dutch bank bill. The bill is also very popular abroad, as it is often compared to Vincent van Gogh's sunflower painting. In the early 1980s the Dutch Bank was looking for a new design for the guilder bills of the legacy series. These had also become obsolete and so the hundred with Michiel de Ruyter also falsified quite often. R. D. E. Oxenaar, who had also designed the testator series was therefore commissioned to come up with a new plan. Eventually a "house, tree, beast" structure was chosen. This series consisted of the:
– Fifty Guilders 1982 Sunflower;
– Hundred Guilders 1977 Snip;
– Two hundred and fifty guilders 1985 Lighthouse.
Today, therefore, the fifty guilder bill with the sunflower is very popular among banknote collectors worldwide. It is an artistic piece of history of the Dutch guilder. The fifty guilder bill with the sunflower was eventually designed by R. D. E. Oxenaar and Hans Kruit.
