Nederland 5 Gulden 1993 Beatrix
In 1988, vondel's five was replaced by a five guilder coin because the bills were in fact wearing out too quickly. The five guilder coins are part of the series of coins designed by Ninaber van Eyben. The fiver is made of nickel with a layer of bronze over it, giving the coin a golden color. The fiver weighs 9.25 grams and has a diameter of 23.5 millimeters. The five guilder coin was designed by Ninaber van Eyben, and the series uses a block system of halves and fours. The fiver has two blocks because two fives go into a unit of ten guilders. In addition to the five of Queen Beatrix the following coins were still issued:
– 5 cent Beatrix;
– 10 cent Beatrix;
– 25 cent Beatrix;
– 1 guilder Beatrix;
– 2 ½ gulden Beatrix;
– 10 Guilder Beatrix 1994 Silver;
– 10 Guilders Beatrix 1995-1999 Silver;
– 50 guilder Beatrix 1982-1998 Silver.
The fives were finally replaced and removed from circulation in 2002 with the introduction of the euro. Today, Beatrix's fives are both collected and used for old-fashioned gaming machines such as pinball machines.
