Netherlands 10 guilder 1994 Benelux proof in box
Inclusief certificaat
The silver Benelux tenner
When Benelux cooperation celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1994, coins were issued by the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Belgium to commemorate it.
– Netherlands: 10 guilder Queen Beatrix;
–
– Luxembourg: 250 francs Duke John of Luxembourg;
The Dutch coin had a value of 10 guilders, but was smaller than Juliana's earlier 10s from the 1970s (the Benelux ten was made of 720/1000 silver, weighed 15 grams and had a diameter of 33 millimeters). Designed by modern artist Willem Vis, the Benelux ten was struck at the rijksmunt in Utrecht. Although the tenner was smaller in the 1990s than its predecessors from the 1970s, it was not widely used in payment transactions.
