Netherlands 1 Guilder 1945 Wilhelmina
NVMH:06-1b
Plomp:PL6a1
Since plans had already been made to restore the economy after liberation through a money purge, new money also had to be made to exchange the old money with. Therefore, bills of one and two and a half guilders were printed in London (at Thomas de la Rue) in order to have enough new money at liberation. The coin bill of one guilder 1945 has the signature of Finance Minister Gerardus Wilhelmus Maria Huysmans on the front. Bills of ten and one hundred guilders were also printed later in 1945, and the series consists of the following bills in total:
1. One guilder coin bill 1945 Wilhelmina;
2. Two and a half guilder coin bill 1945 Wilhelmina;
3. Ten guilder money purification (Ten of Lieftinck);
4. One hundred guilder money purification.
The bills were finally withdrawn from circulation in the late 1940s when Queen Wilhelmina abdicated and Queen Juliana ascended the throne.
