Netherlands half cent 1864 William 3

King's half-cent king William 3 was struck in two varieties, the copper and bronze half cents. The copper half cent is like the half cents of William 1 and William 2, with a large W and the year. On the obverse of the copper half cent is the state coat of arms with "1/2 C" marked for the value. The bronze half cent has a prancing Lion with arrows, and on the mint side '1/2 cent'. The bronze half cent is smaller, weighing 1.25 grams and with a diameter of 14 millimeters, and the copper cent has a weight of 1.92 grams and a diameter of 16 millimeters. The copper Willem 3 half cent was minted between 1854 and 1877, and the bronze half cent was minted between 1878 and 1886. In addition to the half cent of William 3, the following other coins were issued during his reign:

The coins of King William 3 slowly disappeared from circulation in the early twentieth century and were gradually replaced by the coins of Queen Wilhelmina. Today, they are still widely collected by collectors, and are therefore very popular.
