Twenty-five guilders 1971 Sweelinck
The twenty-five guilder bill was introduced in 1971, and features the effigy of composer Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck. It succeeded its predecessor with the image of Christiaan Huygens, which dated back to the 1950s. The 25 guilder banknote featuring Sweelinck has colorful guilloche patterns on the front and back and is therefore very popular among banknote collectors. The twenty-five guilder with Sweelinck is part of Oxenaar's heir series, in addition to the yellow there are also the:
– 5 guilder 1966 Vondel;
– 5 guilder 1973 Vondel;
– 100 guilders 1970 Michiel de Ruyter;
– 1000 guilders 1972 Spinoza.
The twenty-five guilder Sweelinck note was withdrawn from circulation in 1995. It was replaced by the twenty-five guilder bill that had already been put into circulation in 1990.
