After the money purification, all bills had been replaced by new money, only there was still no possibility to mint new silver coins due to scarcity. Therefore, when Queen Juliana ascended the throne, new coin bills were designed to replace the old bills featuring Wilhelmina. The design of the new coin bills had an image of the new queen surrounded by twice the letter "J," standing for Juliana. The new bills were signed by Finance Minister Pieter Lieftinck, who was also responsible for the July and September 1945 money purge. In addition to the guilder, there is also the:
– Two and a half guilder coin bill 1949 Juliana.
The one-guilder coin bill featuring Juliana slowly disappeared from circulation in the mid-1950s when the new silver guilders came into circulation.
